UNESCO world heritage sites are the special landmark areas recognised by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).These areas are of greater importance. As of December 2022 there are total 40 UNESCO sites in India. The first sites to be listed as UNESCO site in india in the year 1983, These sites includes Ajanta caves,Ellora caves,Agra Fort and Taj Mahal. Dholavira and Ramappa Temple are the latest addition to the list under the 'Cultural' category. The list of 40 sites are as under
